Not a welding project...but...

This isn't a welding project, but it is to help make room for those projects.I plan on mounting a vice, chop saw, and a few other tools on here.  Also I plan on putting a cheapo computer in the corner to search for help instead of going through the house and getting it all greasy from handprints.I think it turned out pretty good....The only thing left is to make the 3 lower shelves and clean up and throw a way a lot of excess junk..  After that then I can start cutting up bed frames to make a welding cart/table...hahaha The cart/table can be "parked" in the big opening when not in use and help save space.  On the far right is a place where I put my compressor.Last edited by jetlag; 05-05-2009 at 09:26 PM.Hobart Handler 187Bainbridge bandsawMakita chop sawHarbor Freight 4.5" grinder

Reply:Shelving above the bench, too - that way you can mount the monitor at eye-level if you're standing, plus have extra storage room.  Nice work.
Reply:General thought to those thinking about something similar. If you let the top plywood overhang the base by say 1 1/2" or so you can easily clamp something to the edge of the bench if required. That small a distance doesn't affect the bench strength, but is easier than trying to get clamps with throats deep enough to get past the 2x's.On ones I build for customers for their garage, I cut a full sheet of ply at 30" for the top, This leavs me with a chunk 18" for a lower shelf under the top out of the same sheet and sets the shelf back a comortable distance. Again I try to let the top overhang the 2x's by a bit. For guys that do alot of auto work, I laminate the tops with cheap Formica or get a sheet of steel cut to top the bench. Saves on oil soaking the wood.
