Just when I thought I had it all down. I'm building a cooler because I want to see how lightweight and small I can make it for my needs. Procon pump, 1/4hp dual shaft motor, plastic fan blade and one gallon red poly reservoir. After quite a bit of armchair research I discovered that the vast majority of opinion out there considers one or two-pass ribbon passage radiators (think auto heater cores) to be superior to continuous copper tube condenser style radiators.  I have a few of both types on hand in the sizes that will fit my project.   So some guy on another welding forum post pics of the inside of the name brand six hundred dollar cooler he just bought and it's got a continuous copper tube condenser radiator in it!  So what is the verdict?  They are pretty radically different designs.   Why on earth would a name brand unit use the condenser for a heat exchanger unless they really knew what they were doing?  Can anyone tell me which is best from an engineering standpoint considering the flow and psi of a tig cooler?  Will anyone take a peek in their cooler and tell me what's inside?
Reply:I use street water..But the output is not really all that much..You can pee faster.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:From an "engineering standpoint" the condenser style is hands down the best. The condenser has bunches more square inches of cooling surface (the fins) than the plain tube. If you're working in a cooled shop a coil should be fine. If you're doing a lot of welding in an uncooled shop in the summer then the condenser earns it's keep. Also, if you're using a 3/32 or larger you're putting some heat into that torch and should use a condenser no matter the time of year.I use a condenser for the simple reason that that's what WeldTec puts in their's. I really don't need it with my 20-25, although if my A/C unit goes out on me in the summer it will be a torch saver...lol

Reply:Hey guys, go easy on him, he just needs to steal something so he can buy another line down on the corner  He's the one that needs the fancy gadgets to do the same thing we've been doing for years with 20th century equipment, don't see how that's anything special   And who was the jack-off talking about about a homemade copper coil cooler   for home use yeah...but it really makes an impression on customers when they walk in a business and see Jethro engineering in what's supposed to be a professional shop  I don't know any old timers that would let this idiot bother them These "new technology" smilies are handy though
