Really need info

I've been looking into getting into the welding trade a lot lately, and Ontario, Canada has no existing apprenticeship program, basically. I've been looking at schools, like a local college offering a 10-month program for about five grand. But they can't tell me anything about certification, licensing, and ontop of that, whoever I speak to has no idea what I'm talking about when I mention tickets.Has anyone taken the ten-week course offered by Canadian Welding Skills out near Peterborough, Ontario? Anyone hear of them as a recognized, promising training center?They want $9,600 for a 10-week, introductory course that covers the basics of the four most popular welding types, plus plasma and oxy-ace torch cutting.It just sounds too good to be true, and I've been burned (no pun intended) before.Thanks for your time, in advance.

Reply:Still, a 10-week (2.5 months) course learning     SMAW: plate and pipe, all positions, carbon, and stainless steel.     GMAW: plate and pipe, all positions, carbon steel.     FCAW: plate, all positions, carbon steel.    GTAW: plate and pipe, carbon, and stainless steel.And enough to pass TSSA certification and licensing seems a bit too good to be true. Is it even possible?Isn't it great how we're so lacking of trades persons in Canada, the apprenticeship program doesn't really even exist, and nobody is doing anything about it? >.<
