I am in the serious need of building a spotwelder for some production. I have never done this but I have a CNC and some friends. The part being welded is like a firearm magazine of about 20 rounds. It needs atleast 3 welds in the front and rear. I need to find the cheapest way to build a real tool. I looked at the Entron controls, kind of expensive, what is a good scheme to come up with. Right now I think the idea is to have air cylinders clamp the part and do all 6 welds in one shot. What is a good economical approach, this involves 6 transformers and 6 controllers and scr contactors. water cooling? I have a huge industrial 220 to 440 3phase transformer I used for about a week until the machine it ran blew up but I think the transformers are lots smaller than that thing. Any advice is highly appreciated. |
