Do you need ear plugs when welding? I know if you read the manufacturers stuff they practically write off any and every liability, like don't touch the hot metal, duh... But when arc welding for awhile, does the sizzling sound cause damage to your hearing?
Reply:Ear plugs keep ungodly hot boogers from frying your eardrums, especially when overhead. They also mitigate hearing loss from grinding, chipping, hammering.Blackbird
Reply:I agree w/ dave.Safety glasses; gloves and wear 100% cotton clothes (long sleeves or cutting coat).Layer your clothes over top of the bottom layer and button up. Also don't chip slag w/ your mouth open Last edited by skelley521; 09-12-2011 at 04:46 PM.Semper FiJesus may have been a Carpenter, but his dad was a Millwright" A grinder and a can of paint, will make a welder what he aint' "I've done so much, with so little, for so long, that now I can do anything with nothing!
