Finally got it all glued together. It seems to do the trick. The latch pin (spring rod thingy) is a temporary until I can go to town and pick up some 7/16 cold roll round. The one in the pic is made of 3/8 round. It looked a little puny as I finished it, and just for S&G's, I put a caliper on the ones already on the machine. They were 7/16.The pic with the bolt head nudging a piece of plate shows how tight the clearances were in order to give the lever room to swing thru the full arc. The backside of the sector/quadrant has been what's been giving me nightmares. This thing has been cut apart and redone enough times to make me sick, and the metal looks like swiss cheese A little coat of rust, and all will be well againDown to the last item...... A steering arm, tie rod, and knuckle has to be made for the front furrow wheel, and some frame repair. I've had it up to the eyeballs with it for now, and it may sit a day before I feel like getting back to it Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Hello Samm, Bet you are pleased to be on the final furlong,You are deffinitely right about needing 7/16" dia for the "spring thingy latch" I hope it works as well as you expect it to,What are you going to use instead of the twisted operating wire on the latch? The split pin yet to be opened,I like to just open the legs about 30*degrees,worked on steam turbines all my life and never known one to come out ever. Makes life so much easier further down the track if you need to do any re-work, Some folks like to bend them hard back against the shaft, rod, nut etc, Which camp do you fall into samm. Great job, Looking forward to a full report on it's maiden voyage, Cheers and best regards Gordon.Lincoln SP-170 MigHypertherm powermax 45Lorch T220 AC/DC TigButters FM 215 synergic MigKemppi 180 adaptive mig RULES ARE FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FOOLS AND THE GUIDANCE OF WISE MEN.
