I found some 36" rod stamped r45 in my garage. Can this be used for tig?Thermal Arc 185TSW
Reply:For something non-critical, you'll get away with it. It's filler for gas welding.

Reply:as said, rg45 is a filler for O/A. it doesn't contain the deoxidizers necessary to ensure porosity free welds using the TIG processdepending on the quality/cleanliness of the base metal it may (appear at least) to produce fine welds or you may find the puddle spits or throws sparks and a bead full of worm holes |
