I was wondering if anyone knows how many years are left for welders in the Marcellus Shale pipeline? I have tried google but have found nothing.
Reply:20+ easily. As long as there is gas in the ground, welders are going to be needed.Have we all gone mad?

Reply:Pennsylvania will have great advantage from the marcellus shale if it is securely and effectively formulated. Their will be an increase in occupation for the people in that area.

Reply:First I heard was for a 3 year boom. Lately I've heard 10 years worth of work, but no mention of how long the boom will last. I've been in it since spring 2010 and there is no let off yet. Actually it's still growing from where I'm setting. So the 3 year boom (2010-2013) I'd say all but a guarantee.Looking ahead 10 years is hard to do. My 35 years experience in the pipeline industry says you can't look ahead but maybe 18 months - then you had better watch. My personal forecast is 5 years with the first 3 years being "boom" (like it is right now). That way I will be retired and it won't manner anymore. Good luck
Reply:Ain't going away any time soon. Not just the pipelines, there is an entire service industry associated.Bigger companies can make money even at these gas prices. All the peeps like the money. Towns like the money, everybody like the money. CEO's like the money. They will solve whatever it takes.Technology will continue to change, demand won't stop. My area is into it big time. Long history of drilling much shallower for both oil and gas. No gas for the home owners this time, too high of pressure. Free gas from the older stuff is common. Some problems like the roads aren't built for the equipment in some areas but everybody wants that money. They advertise for lease signings every week. Ain't going to quit as long as they are making the money.Drilling related trucks going by my town maybe more than logging trucks. Like always they will get the easy stuff first, the impossible just take bit longer. |
