My uncle gave me a amrox bs-450 bandsaw with no blade on it. I done a search on the internet and couldnt find anything on the size of the blade does anybody know what size of blade i need for it. Is the saw even worth messing with. He also gave me a columbian vise model D45-M4 with no jaws. Does anybody know where to get jaws for that madel or know of a way to make them easily?? Really would appreciate any help. ThanksEquipment:Lincoln Ranger 8Lincoln Power Mig 255Miller Diversion 165Hypertherm Powermax 45Victor Pro Series Torch setTons of other shop supplies
Reply:Measure around wheels with a tape it should be 5' 4 1/2" x.025" V
Reply:And after you fix the saw you can make some aluminum soft jaws for the vise.
Reply:VPT covered how to measure the blade pretty good. If you don't have a soft tape, use a length of string and mark where the two ends cross and measure with a standard tape. If you look at a tool catalog like MSC or Enco, they usually have stock blades. Other options would be McMaster Carr or Graingers. It's usually pretty easy to figure out what size blade will fit your saw. Keep in mind that you can move the wheels to tighten the blade so your measurement may not exactly match whats listed in the catalog. Do yourself a favor and write the blade size on the saw in a good spot with a sharpie once you know the new blade works. That way you don't have to do this every time you need a new blade.I'd do what VPT did and just make up a set of jaws. They can however usually be purchased from MSC/Enco as well. You'll need to do some measuring and figuring to see if what they sell will fit your vise..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
