I bought the 226190 flux core nozzles for my MM175, but the tips stick out about 3/8" from the end of the nozzle? Every other welder I've had that used flux had the tip recessed. the part number matches my rig and the tips are normal size... what's the deal here?

Reply:I'm pretty sure it has something to do with protecting the tip from slag and spatter clogging. If it only protected the diffuser then non gas equipped migs wouldn't need a nozzle
Reply:Hello . classic , Prop-Doc is correct - you can run flux core without a nozzle if you have a screw on tip. The nozzle is only used for diffuser protection , it also gives you great view while welding without a nozzle , we go without one especially in tight areas. For our Bernard guns i have a nozzle cut down to the threaded area so it will hold in the tip and then i run a tapered tip , this suitcase stays on the service truck and gets a lot of use.
Reply:I haven't used the welder with this nozzle yet. I have had a bad slag and spatter problem using the mig tip. Should the problem be remedied with this tip? And if not what else could be doing it? I'm no pro but I've welded long enough to know my technique is good.
