Reply:i have 3 phase power lucky my welder is 3 phase power to
Reply:Very nice - But probably, @2000psi x piston area = maybe 10 - 15 tons.Still plenty of power to send stuff flying, so okay, where's the "Chicken-Man" remote control? "Here, put down that broom and hold this lever for me." Last edited by denrep; 06-22-2009 at 11:51 PM.

Reply:my mistake 2200 psi
Reply:I wonder if there are formulas to making a frame to handle a certain tonnage? I'm sure there is. My luck, I would build one and it would break the frame before pressing in the part. How fast is that piston travel? Is the speed adjustable? I have 16 brackets to make and I would like to just do it with a die and a press, but not if it's going to take forever!
Reply:the pump puts out 3000 psi at 15 gpm so the speed of the ram is control by the cross valve i have some dies that i made i will take a pic and post them here in the next day or 2
Reply:Measure the diameter of the piston as it leaves the cylinder. The area in square inches is [Dia X Dia] X 3.14 divided by 4Take that number and multiply it by the pressure, 2,200 psi or whatever youre working with and that will the force applied by the ram.

Reply:the ram is 2.00 the cylinder is 5.00 id the hyd psi is 2200 is where i run it the pump will go to 3000 psi

Reply:I'm just jealous. That press is certainly a more ambitious project than my little Orange Crush pictured here. Probably more well engineered, too. I used that to bend all sorts of parts that needed bending, including 1/8 plate to make a loader bucket extensions. Some other items were 1/4" flats up to almost 4" wide!Somewhere I have a picture of it after exceeding the strength of the top cross-bar. The 1.5 x 2.5 x 1/4 tube got bowed up in the middle. Trying to straighten it without a form crunched it from above and made the sides bow out. I keep promising myself I will cut a new top crossbar from something stronger. I also keep promising myself I will build something more along the size of what you have there. Promises, promises. Always promises. Congratulations on the successful project! Looks like it is a real performer! -MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.
Reply:Can you give me some more examples of what you would use a press this powerful for? My welding interests are car oriented and I'm having a difficult time thinking of applications.
Reply:thats a monster. i like it. been thinkin about doing one with an air/hydraulic jack, unless i could find a hydraulic unit for a very reasonable price
