Here are my first TIG tries (top - opposite side, bottom - welding side). Settings:- about 100-125 amps- argon set to 15 psi (no cfm meter :-()- 1/16" ceriated tungsten- 1/8" steel plate- tries with and without filler addedQuestion: what was wrong? I don't like those holes at the end of runs plus the bead sticks out too much in my opinion. How to correct those things?
Reply:Fill your holes at the end. Circle at the end and slowly let off the petal. Then hold it there after you are off the petal to allow the post flow to cover the hot weld. Add a drop of filler if needed before you start to circle.As for the raised weld. Add less filler or more heat.
Reply:the bead might stick out now, but your welding on a flat plate. Once you get into a joint you should be fine.Have we all gone mad?
