I did this for a local armed guard company. Really all I did was cut off the prior step surface and attach the 1' x 4' piece of laser cut diamond plate that I got from a local steel supplier. The problem with the prior step was that whomever originally built the stair used two layers of expanded metal as the surface. To no surprise, it broke. Here are the pictures. The first picture shows all the caked on dirt and shmutz that built up over the years that I had the pleasure of grinding/cutting through while removing the expanded metal. All cleaned up! I stitch welded it with self shielded wire using my little lincoln mig pack 10 welder, which worked great. We didn't want to unbolt the stair because it was bolted into the concrete and bricks. Thanks for looking!
