I've looked and haven't found exactly what I was looking for, but what if one of the mods posted a new sticky with a few pics of various beads. Something showing a good bead with a 7018, one that was too low on the amps, and one that was too high. And so on with other welding processes. A number of books have some okay pics, but they tend to be black and white, and not as helpful as I think something on the forum could be. Much of the time the books will show a series of bad beads caused by umpteen different things; too long of an arc, too short, bad angle, etc, but something more basic as I described above would be a better reference I think.Lincoln Square Wave 175
Reply:It's easy to find picts of beads that are cold. Just look at a few of the "help me learn" threads and you'll quickly see any number of "cold" welds where the amps are set too low. This thread has some picts of what can happen when you simply change the arc length and nothing else that I did in the past for someone. You end up with somewhat similar results if you set your amps too low or too high as well.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=58537.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
