Does anyone on the forum use ZAM (Zinc-Aluminium-Magnesium) if anyone isnt familiar with it, its steel coated in the afforementioned as an alternative to hot dip galvanizing. Its weldability is ok if prepared correctly, but due to the volume we have been looking into other processes due to time prepping cleaning then cold galvanizing welds (galmet). Today we tried the CMT (cold metal transfer) process with silicon bronze and straight argon in an attempt to do away with prep and cold gal but I can see corrosion issues in the haz.If anyone has overcome or has experience with zam any suggestions would be appreciated. |
