I have a chance to buy some 1 inch x 7 inch flat stainless Would in make a good welding surface? I now have 1/2 x6 and 1/2x 8 steel flats for my top
Reply:Stainless is nice stuff. Would not mind having a table top made from stainless, but it costs too much. I can't see any problem with arcing, just keep your ground clamp as close as possible to the work.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:It would make for a great (extremely expensive and unnecessary) welding surface. If you have money to burn, go for it.  Steel would work just as well.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:unless your doing sanitary welds, or welding a lot of stainless, then you really dont need it
Reply:Trouble is, if you get it real hot, it warps all to hell unless it is pretty thick, 1/2 will bend from a hot spot (don't ask me how I know)
