Log Splitter Modification

Last year I posted pics of the modification I did to a home made, 3 pt hitch log splitter.  This thing is a brute.  A real PITA to get hitched up as it's so heavy.  I have to transport it and my "buzz saw" to my MIL's to take down some trees and split them for her.  Rather than making 2 trips with the tractor, I rigged this up.  I have been thinking for some time now about putting an axle under the splitter.  I already installed extra long hoses on the thing so I could move it in place, go back and get my saw, then just hook it up to the tractor hydraulics without having to remount the beast.I finally got moving on the axle.  I yanked a carrier out of the barn that I made several years ago.  I used this to transport the "classifier" portion of a tire shredding machine that I used to rebuild.  Simply lowered the gizzmo on the carrier, brought it to my shop, did rebuild.  Since I retired a couple of years ago, I have mounted different stuff on the carrier.  I removed the axle, shorted it by 16", mounted it under the splitter, cut off the tongue, added 1 foot on it so the saw would clear the tray.  Still have to rig up a removable jack so I can jack the splitter up and remove the tongue from it's receiver.  I don't want the tongue in the way during splitting operations.  Real PITA to step over the tongue all the time.I'll post pics of the final, painted item. Reply:I would have liked to moved the axle forward a little to sort of counter-balance the weight, but, I use my backhoe loader bucket to lift the heavier chunks and the axle would be in the way.  I thought about making it flip, too heavy.  I'd have to wear a jock strap in my socks.
