Another New Bed

GOTCHA!!!!!!!!  Old mutt's been sleepin' on the same old rag for near on 5yrs.  Time to get a new oneOnly problem.............new one is made out of tree hugger recycled materials.  Some sorta recycled pop bottle crap.Bed is like a doggone trampoline.  Too spongy, and like and exercise ball.  Will not compressSo here comes Clarence.  A few sniffs, a look back over his shoulder, and he elects to sleep on the bare floorLook dude, some serious coinage went into this new "Earth Friendly" piece of crap.!!!!!!!!!!!Don't be ploppin' your hairy butt on the kitchen floor  Get with the program!!!!!!Well, after the first 2 days, he finally came around.Little dude climbs on top of the new bed.  Notice I say "on top".Gets sorta settled in, and then the legs start slippin' down the hill.  VERY UNHAPPY DOG.  All azzholes and elbowsThird day.  Finally a sort of mutual standoff.  Pup is gettin' the hang of it.  Sort of a balancing act ya know.  Like tryin' to sit on top of a beach ball.Not bein' a dog, all I can imagine is , that it must be like tryin' to sleep on a rubber catchers mittHad to put something up,  ain't gonna be any welding around here for a good long while if everything goes smoothlyThe original Blue Bedand the new Red BedThis would not be a real good time to come up in my yard.  You'd be facin' one really PO'd dog Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Have you considered letting some stuffing out?  cut it open in the middle of one of the edges, reach in and take half a dozen handfuls out.  Then just stitch 'er up.  that ought to allow him to shift some of the stuffing around to make a good spot to lay.  My dogs spin in circles, fluff, and dig, before finally laying down.  They prefer my pillows to theirs though.My name's not Jim....
Reply:Sam, rip the innards out of that thing and fill it with whatever the pooch wants!!! I had one once that had quite a bunch of cedar shavings inside. Dog thought that was pretty neat.
Reply:I got rid of those damn beds...  Got myself a massive Horse blanket instead.  I fold it up and put it on my bay window sill.  Dogs freakin' love it and when it gets a bit dirty or hairy, I just fold it over one more time until it needs to be washed.  Then in the washer it goes (on sanitize) and one or the other (usually my Lab) is on it as soon as it comes outta' the dryer ! Reply:The plumpness of the bed will probably settle fairly soon. Recycled pop bottles are what the thermal fleece is made of, so it should settle and be nice and warm.Not as green as you but I got the dog  couple of bean bags and he's never hesitated to settle in them and true to Ridgeback lines he loves to spin around before settling and also to gather the bedding in until he's happy with it."One of the things we have to be thankful for is that we don't get as much government as we pay for." Reply:My last dog was a weinie dog and when he got grown my wife bought him a doggie bed. You know, a metal ring on little legs with a pad inside. This one was stuffed with cedar. Took the mutt one day to destroy it.I went to see my bootmaker buddy who also sold saddles and tack and asked if he had a tough saddle blanket. He had one that looked like sheepskin and he said the maker guaranteed you couldn't hurt it. I folded it in half and it just fit the bed frame. You couldn't hurt it either because the dog did his darndest to wreck it and he couldn't. I guess he was a pretty smart mutt. When it got cold weather he would crawl in the fold and he had cover. He spent his whole life sleeping on and in that thing and it was still in good shape at the end.Samm, I'm glad you're taking good care of Clarence. An air conditioned truck to ride in and now a new bed.  Even if he's not too proud of the new bed.
Reply:Our kids say they wish we'd treated them as well as our dog. Our's has a bed under both computer desks and has "my space" between us on our bed. Reply:Your lucky mine took my chair first then the spare bed room. I actually like her sleeping there more than some of the others that have slept there. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If someone whats or needs to stay we tell them they have to sleep with the dog, they say yea right, she will set outside the door and whine until they let her in. Reply:Two words: horse blanket.  (jman and Oldtimer already said 'em, but ...)Our critter (okay, my g/f's cat) loved sleeping on the blanket - she'd sleep there more than on the bed or the windowsill.  Plus, the blanket outlasted the cat (eleven years).
