Hello everyone, really have enjoyed reading the forum in the last week, got off my butt and signed up. I'm looking to purchase a Miller Mig unit as I'll no longer be using the ones at work...new policy!!Saw this one on CList...anyone know what the model is, I couldn't recognize it.http://sandiego.craigslist.org/ssd/for/2727143532.htmlBest,Jason
Reply:There is a phone # and e-mail address , contact him and ask for more info.
Reply:I see the contact info...he hasn't replied.
Reply:Just ask for the serial number. You can take that to miller's web site and get an owner's manual. You also can then call miller and see if it has been reported stolen to them. Can also check with local police. If he will not supply serial number it may be stolen.
Reply:Looks like a MillerMatic 185.I would spend the extra and get a MM211......3 yr warranty, more amps and known history.
Reply:I picked it up from the guy, it's a Millermatic 185 and he had the receipt...wasn't stolen, just needed to sell it to pay for some medical bills...sad story, young fellow got hit by a drunk driver and almost lost his leg...it was a sad story. He wassuch a nice kid and seeing his leg-he'd been through a lot. A previous deal I was looking into had fallen through and I was really bummed, and then I found this one....some things happen for a reason.Best,Jason
Reply:You'll be very happy with that machine. I've got one and it's been a real work horse. The only minor issue I've ever had was a bad trigger on the gun after 6 or 7 years of use and that was a $8 part the LWS had in stock. If you later choose to add the spoolgun, some of the earlier MM185's like mine required an adapter kit. Miller sent me the upgrade kit for free when I ordered my spoolgun at the LWS. Kit took all of maybe 5 minutes to install. a few screws and plugin the connector and I was done. Reply:[QUOTE=DSW;580097]. Loading up the MM185 and moving it between the house and the shop is a PITA.  /QUOTE]Sounds like you need to build a cart for the MM185. There's no shortage of ideas here on the forum on how to go about it.
Reply:I have 2, both diesel powered with 4WD and added tool storage.  The MM185 comes with wheels, It's a floor model unit like the MM212 or MM252. It rolls real nice on it's own. It's a bit hard to drag it 10 or so miles down the road however unless you bother to load it in the truck or on the trailer. At 165 lbs it's a bit heavy and awkward to load by yourself in the back of the truck even with 8' ramps. It's usually too much hassle to go pick up the trailer and bring it back to the house just to move the mig..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Yep I've got the Super S32P suitcase, just waiting to get a chance to pick up the Bobcat from Josh to use it again. That will end up at the shop for mig there, and the MM185 will be the house machine along with the Syncrowave 200 for tig/stick..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
