power would it take to operate a licoln tombstone? I am wanting to use a generator.
Reply:The Lincoln catalog shows the AC225 wants 50 amps @ 230v, 63 amps @ 220v to run at max. For the ACDC225/125, it shows 36 amps for DC on 230v, and 41 amps for DC on 220v to run at max.My Bobcat 250 is a 10,000 watt generator and makes ~45 amps at 240v. I would estimate to run DC at max you would need at least an 8,000 watt gen and to run AC at max, 11- or 12,000 watts should do it.For how much a generator of that power costs, you would save money to just buy a Bobcat that already has the welder inside it. You can get a nice used Bobcat or Ranger welder with 8-10KW of generator power for around $1500.
