Weld steel with spoolgun

I was wondering if a sga100c with spoolmate 3035 off of a bobcat could be used to weld light steel? I know it's probably not ideal just hoping it would hold me over while saving for a suitcase. Thanks in advance

Reply:Can't see why not. Miller lists the SGA100C and 3035 as Bobcat compatible. I plan on eventually getting an SGA 100C to go with my 3035 once I manage to arrange a time to pick up the Bobcat I'm getting.http://www.millerwelds.com/pdf/spec_sheets/M1-5.pdfI've used my 3035 with .023 and .030 wire and FC for welding racks on trucks since it's got more reach than the gun on the MM185. The only thing you'd have to watch is how hot you run that small gun. It's rate at 150 amps @ 60%. As long as you aren't running tons of heavy wire thru it  at high amps it should work just fine..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:+1 more. All good info. AAmetalmaster is the master when it comes to these. I converted mine to the standard miller mig tips after reading his post on it and it works great. I have run mine off my TB and run FC, solid wire, SS, and aluminum out of it and it works great.
