Working as a welder

I'm probably going to a welding trade school next fall, I haven't gotten in yet(can't sign up until after christmas) but they have no requirements so I should be fine but even if I don't get in for one reason or another I would like to aim to become a welder eventually.So I have some questions.How much can one earn as a welder? Do you get yearly raises? If so how much? And if you don't mind  me asking, how much do you earn and how many years experience do you have?I've read that journeyman welders can earn moreHow does one become a journeyman welder? How much can they earn? And is it "easy" to get work as a welder? And in general if you got any advice for me
Reply:Where are you from. It is a little different from region to region. Canada visite US.Here in British Columbia Canada I'v been welding in a mine and making over $100 K a year, but you have to be a Journeyman welder meaning at least 3 years of apprentiship and a Red Seal endorsment. Reply:How much did your guys' welding schools cost?  I have been considering going to a vocational school in my area, I am wondering if the price they are asking is normal.

Reply:I'm in Canada. And this salary is base on 4 days on and 4 days off. We have a guy from Scottland with us that got his experience and certs in Norway. In the US I dont really know whats the wages over there.
Reply:You can make all the money you would want welding but you get out of it whatever you put into it. The harder you work and the better work you do the better reputation you will have. After some time you won't have to look for a welding job. The contractors will call you. Keep after it and work your way up the ladder and become a welding inspector someday.
