We all show off our home brewed projects, but lets see some of the projects that pay the bills. Looking at a few recent pictures including the one below have really inspired me, so lets see them.Hope you don't mind

Reply:Ahhh, it won't let me edit that picture, posted the wrong size.  Someone zap it for me please, I'll post a reduced one later.
Reply:I'm guessing the height of the big crane at about 300 feet. So that's a big something. Smoke stack?Descriptions to go with the photos would be awesome.
Reply:Well, most of the picture got cut off.  That stack is around 300 feet, and is a scrubber stack for an FGD.  On the far right you can see a smidge of the structural steel for an 825MW supercritical boiler.
Reply:I didn't build it, I just watched it being built and now I run it. 750 megawatt combine cycle power plant, the 4 stacks on the brick building are gone and that plant is now decommisioned. This picture was taken during steam blows at comissioning.“Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride!”
Reply:We built 3 of these this year. Look closely at the front and rear joints of the chassis and tell me what you don't see (picture might not be clear enough to tell so if no one guesses I will post the answer) It's an asphalt plant and weighs just over 30 ton if I recall correct.Hope I don't get in trouble for posting this I never asked permission. Then again no one said I couldn't

Reply:some of the various generating stations ive worked at.  Working at kelsey generating station right now which is a fly in station with 5 star staff house, work 8 days off for 6 its kind of nice. And the kettle generating station where i first worked and was apprenticed, have also worked at the brandon generating station which is a coal fired boiler plant also with two natural gas combustion turbines. A vast array of work including alot of pressure welding with various exotic alloys, cavitation welding on the turbine blades (essentially a huge 5 blade outboard motor prop) i drive a duramax with 10" lift and you could fit two of my trucks on one blade just for comparison. General fabrication, very exciting work always somthing new. Attached Images
Reply:Just some more of the stations ive worked at throughout the manitoba hydro system: Brandon Generating station, Limestone generating station, longspruce Attached Images

Reply:I'm currently working on an expansion joint on hwy 22 out of salem oregon.  They built up the roadway so the plating had to be built up as well.. It varied from 3/4" to 1 3/8" over a distance of 70'.  The weld call out is 5/16", continues on the fingers (about 540' total) and stitched around the straight edges.  They cant close the road down, so we have to dodge drunk drivers on the grave yard shift.[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwUrVBczPzY[/ame] Attached ImagesCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Not sure how to post pictures. But I have some good ones of the CT. Science Center in Hartford along with some other random stuff. Maybe one of you cats can show me the ropes on how to post a picture. That pipe line gig looks great. I love when there are a bunch of welders on the job...things tend to get very competitive in terms of how many points you are welding a day/week or how many lbs. of wire you are using.
