I should know, I worked there for just over a year.  "When this light is on and you hear beeping, press the button and shake the fries. When this light is on and you hear a different beeping, the fries are done, remove them from the oil". Yes, ding, fries are done... Would you like an apple pie with that? I never broke anything while I was there (that was 25 years ago), though I could see how things would get broken with some of the roughing around that went on there.
