Hey all. I havent poked my head out in a while because my web design business has been exploding with new business lately, and have been trying to finish some projects before winter sets in here in Kansas City. But Im scratching my head about how to connect a removable extension of my welding table. It would hold a used DeWalt 5-hp chop saw I bought on Craigslist for $100. Id like to easily remove it when necessary. I know there a few here who have done something similar but my welding tables receivers are 2 (1/8) box tubing and nothing seems to fit snuggly inside them. I dont want to weld a connecting table to the receiver. It needs to be something easily removed. So I thought I would pick your brains for some suggestions. The chop saw weighs 40lbs and the welding table weighs about 200lbs sans tools and accessories. Photo 1 is my welding table, doesnt show the receivers well. Photo 2 is my chop sawPhoto 3 is my designThe primary goal is to also have the chop saw table level with the welding table. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks,Steve Attached ImagesJunkYard Tools .com
Reply:Hey Steve,Here's my setup for my Porter-Cable Dry Cut Saw. I designed this to be quite compact, mobile, & yet fully functional and only takes up 2' X 2' of floor space. My tubing used is 1.5" sq. for the saw table frame, & 1.25" for the telescoping extension. Hope this gives you some ideas..... Denny Attached ImagesComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:since the problem with your receivers is they dont fit snug around the tubing, why not build up the tubing with some weld and grind it off so it fits snug? or extend the receivers out and weld in a nut and make it snug with a bolt against the tubing in the receiver?
