Is it possible to run a Miller Dialarc 250 (white face model) on a 40 amp breaker. I have no intention of running the machine at its full capacity and just want to run a 1/8th rod (7018) from time to time. In short is a 40 amp breaker just to little to get this machine to run even the small rods...Southbend 13" latheBuffalo 18Warner Swasey #3 Turret latheMiller 180Miller Dialarc Miller Diversion 165
Reply:You might as well try... Assuming everythings wired properly, worst case senerio is that you throw the breaker.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:Buying the welder for $100.00 so I thought I would give it a shot. Unless someone has information on how it won't work. Looking for advice. Thanks for the response Lanse.Southbend 13" latheBuffalo 18Warner Swasey #3 Turret latheMiller 180Miller Dialarc Miller Diversion 165
Reply:You wont be running 250 amps on stick anyway. Should be no problem up to 200 amps.
Reply:It will work on 30. Mine did.
Reply:But what do I know? I didnt know that Miller even made a welder. Ha.

Reply:Should be fine. Great score on the price!
Reply:I had a dialarc HF, whiteface. On a 30 Amp dryer plug (even with a new breaker) it would pop the breaker often when powering up. In-rush current as they say. Once it made it past the power up stage, it ran TIG just fine, even a short burst at full, 310 Amps or so.What you need to watch is running on AC. AC, the arc can be much longer and when you try to break the arc, you get a short spike of very high power. Break the arc too slow and you run the risk of popping the breaker. My house is 126V, so I'm running at 252V single phase. When I finally wired for 50 Amp circuit, my in-rush issue went away.So from my experience, 30 Amps is OK, but some days frustraiting. 50 Amp is OK all the time. Now the question is, is 40 enough? For a $100 welder, 40 is enough. If you end up popping the breaker, just make sure the path to the fuse box is clear. Walk over and reset, start again.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
Reply:Welders home, and in pretty good shape.Plugged the machine in and turned it on and the breaker held up at least to this point. No cables of course and none of my quick connects will fit the machine so looks like a trip to the welder supply store for the connectors and most likely new cable.
