Heres a pic of a BBQ pit another one of my students fabed a few years ago. He made it because he came from a large family, so they always had BIG BBQ's. We added a fender later to keep the heat from the tires. He said it worked great once he got it home. Hope you enjoy. Attached ImagesAG MECH DUDE
Reply:I like the design from an accessibility standpoint, but I wonder how well it tows once the wood basket on the front is empty? Looks like it might be a bit light on the tongue.Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC (Sold)Miller Dialarc 250HFMiller MM251Miller MM200 (Sold)Miller MM130Miller Spot WelderVictor O/A rigMiller Spoolmatic 1 (Sold)
Reply:i see your point of view, and you are right. The trailer was designed to be pulled loaded. When we took it to the show empty, it did feel somewhat awkward, but not as bad as you think. Once loaded however, it really levels out. We designed one like this a year later with a larger basket, to accommodate the weight ratio. Thanks for the reply!AG MECH DUDE
Reply:looks good. only gripe i would have is there is too much weight at the rear end. i try to put the tanks between the axle and the tongue so that the tongue is always heavy.I break things for a living...
Reply:i like that one but i prefer them face sideways instead of towards the rear. i like the style where one side of the trailer is the business side where you cook and the other side is storage for coolers/wood etc.
Reply:Side mounting the pit was the original idea, however, with the weight of that particular tank, we felt the weight may be to heavy for the one side of the trailer, thus affecting the way it would pull. AG MECH DUDE |
