It looks like I'll be getting a mid-80s model Miller Dialarc with a HF box this weekend... not sure what all will come with it, but I need to know exactly what all I'll need for mild steel tubing and plate up to 1/4". Will eventually be doing cromo and al, just not yet. Also, the seller said the foot pedal would have to be hard wired in??? The pedal is included in the sale, just not hooked up I guess. What is involved? Is there instructions somewhere I'll be able to get to show me what needs to be wired where??? Thanks in advanceRussell

Reply:There are some Dial Arcs with remote capabilty. If you don't have a gas solenoid you can use a torch with a gas valve. I wouldn't buy unless you are sure everything works.DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill

Reply:I'll try to get more info on the hf box tonight, thanks for pointing me at things to look for.
Reply:You should be able to find the owner's manual for the welder, hf box, and foot control on the Miller site. The foot control has 5 wires, 2 are for the contactor (generally A & B pins) which turns on welding power to the torch, and the other 3 are for the potentiometer to control current level. The potentiometer in the foot control must have the correct ohm rating for the welder, like 10k ohm, or whatever.
Reply:Well, I can't get ahold of the guy now, so unless he decides to pick up his phone one of these times, I guess I won't be getting this. Anyone got anything good and used so I can actually afford it? I don't want junk, but I can't afford new. Not yet anyway. All I really need is a good MIG welder, just figured if I could get a TIG, well why not grab it! |
