Here's my modified stove. Turns out that we should have removed the elements (they dont work so well anymore) before trying to widen the opening from 21" to 24". With a little more hammering, the door shut just fine and now it sits under my table(had to lift the table with the forklift to slide it in there). Attached ImagesCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
