I recently acquired an htp 200. Im using .023 wire. The liner on this machine is a spring like composition. The welder will not feed the wire without breaking at the rollers inside with the swan neck in place. if i remove the gun and swan neck the wire feeds fine. i know they make a plastic liner but i would hate to replace my liner unless i must. The contact tube is clear and im not experienced enough to trouble shoot this. any advice would be appreciated!
Reply:I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'breaking at the rollers'.The plastic liner is for feeding aluminum or soft wires. Using it with a hard steel common mig wire (ER70Sx) will just wear out the liner faster.Use a new tip sized for .023 wire.On my HTP, the drive roll is dual-grooved. One groove is for .030 & .035 wire, the other is for .023 wire. Check to see if your drive roll is installed in the correct direction so you're using the .023 groove. If not, flip it over. You need enough roller tension on the adjuster knob on the idler roll so that the wire keeps trying to feed if you stub it against a hard surface, but not so much tension that the motor bogs down or stops feeding.Beyond that, take out the liner and check for a kink, damaged end, or obstruction that could be hanging up the wire.Good luck with it!MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
