Reply:I don't remember where it said it was made when I bought it, but mine works very well and I like it alot.  I think it's the best deal going in an inverter ac/dc tig machine.   I'm very happy with mine and feel fine recommending it to anyone looking for a good ac/dc inverter tig in the under-200 amp power range.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:I don't care where they are made, they are good stuff. Pretty sure Japan, positive not China. Think they are Victor/Tweco as well. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:You guys are correct with Japan. Thermadyne owns Victor as well. I used to work there, when they made the decision to start to buy the welders from Japan. I hate to say it, because it takes industry away from workers in this country, but the Japanese are extremely good with electronics, so they should be very good welders. Obviously, that's why we here such good reviews about them. Good luck with it. I'm sure that you'll be happy with it.
Reply:well worth getting .had mine for a wile now and its great. for the $ you cant beat it. Attached Images summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:Thermadyne is the parent corporation.  Tweco, Thermal Arc, ArcAir, Thermal Dynamics, Stoody, Victor, & Cigweld  I know are all name brands of Thermadyne.   A few years back Thermadyne bought a huge portion of Hobart Brothers of Troy Ohio.  Most likely a lot of the famed quality of "HOBART" wrapped up in that 185 tig machine.   ITW corporation (MILLER) on the other hand, has cheapened the still today, Hobart branded equipment to be a price competitor with the other lesser known brands.

Reply:that would be my TA-185 just as it is embroidered on the front. here is a pic of it without the cover, not many times its not coverd in the shop when not in use. way too much $$ to not take good care of it, well way too much $ for me any way. took over 3 years to get it, i intend to care for it well. Reply:We have a factory authorized service center for all brands except the chinese stuff here, they sell Miller, Lincoln, ESAB, Thermal Arc and Thermal Dynamics. They had a used ThermalArc 185 they picked up on a buyout and I was looking for an inverter at the time (it wasn't big enough) and asked about it. All they said was they are great as long as you don't have any problems with the boards. I have a ThermalArc Hefty suitcase wirefeeder. It is a good solid unit other than the hinky self deforming case. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
