Welding gas sticker shock.....

Holy Toledo things have gone up.The last time I bought gasses was about 10 years ago.  I know that prices all around have gone up,  but this is incredible to me how much the gas has skyrocketed.4 cylinders  rental $50 ea so $200 a year.   a expected increase compared to before.251 ft of of O2, small acetylene, 125 ft of argon, and 125 fto of argon/CO2 came out to be $215.67 plus tax..   Wowser.  The acetylene was downright disgusting at $89.28.They told me about the Carbide plant burning,  but wow.Victor Oxy weld/cut Setup Meco Midget Torch outfitEverlast 2016 250EX & Power Cool W300Lincoln Power mig 210MP  w/amptrol and Spool GunEverlast Powerarc 200 Hypertherm Powermax 45Bandsaw, Lathe, grinders, press, Bridgeport, etc.

Reply:Everything is more expensive in Jersey (among the reasons I left), but I'd be making some phone calls at those prices. That's just nuts!I have plenty of acetylene, but after making friends with LP I'll cut with either one. At those prices I'd never cut with acetylene at all. Victor polypropylene cutting tips work fine with LP if you can score them cheaper online. I'd hate to see what a Jersey LWS gets for consumables if gas is that high. Online prices are quite reasonable.It's also easier on my back tossing a BBQ jug in the back of a truck for mobile work.

Reply:You think that is bad, up north here. I looked at getting some argon, to buy a 250cf cylinder( just the bottle) $360CAD and the gas is $100. An 80cf is about $250 for the bottle and $50 for the gas. I havent checked the regular gas companies around here yet but.... HOLY COW.
Reply:I dont know all the prices but here is what I pay at my gas supplier.. Not bad Really great place. Its a little further for me but they get my business.282 CU oxy = 18 something125 oxy = 14125 argon or mix = 32125 helium = 50 I own all my tanks so not sure about rentals.
Reply:My price last week for 125 75/25 mix was $12.  My gas bill is one thing i dont even have to budget for. thankfully! Dirt cheap.
