new to welding

Reply:looks like you are moving the torch ok.. but i dont see heat marks on the metal...and get some longer pieces..that looks like 6 seconds ..

Reply:thanks for the input.to mechanic416 its two small pieces or square tubing just for sample purposes.as far as being able to teach yourself to weld,if what you say is true and thats not possaible,how do you explain the first person that ever welded.

Reply:Get as much scrap as you can (within the thickness capabilities of your welder of course) and practice.  There are lots of good books and youtube videos on the subject too.  Post more of your welds and give the metal thickness, settings, wire and as much other information as you can.  What you did looks alright, but it's hard to judge with those two pieces.Lincoln Pro Mig 180Everlast PowerARC 200
Reply:Pretty nice weld.Take one side of the welded tube and clamp it into a vise. Then put a big adjustable wrench on the other and bend it till it breaks. Post pictures of the broken weld.
