Reply:I just bought a TIG package that came with the Smith version. I find it very hard to read the flow meter. I was able to squint and finally read it and now that I know where the ball should be I can tell if it is "correct" or not, but it should not be that hard. The gauge on the MIG machine is exactly that - a gauge. It is much easier to read but I am not as confident in what it says.So if I had my choice it would be the $64 one. Looks like it is easy to read and it looks like it comes apart so you could replace the regulator or the flowmeter if you had to.Awaiting the professional opinions to discover all the things I didn't know about regulators and flow meters,Arvid
Reply:Thanks Arvid. I was leaning towards that one. Looked easy to read.Anybody else?
Reply:I'd buy this one on ebay. Victor brand and hose for around $68 delivered. Or nice Smith for $109 delivered.Weldfabulous is a good vendor.http://cgi.ebay.com/VICTOR-0781-2743...QQcmdZViewItemhttp://cgi.ebay.com/SMITH-FLOWMETER-...QQcmdZViewItemLast edited by crawler; 03-12-2008 at 08:08 PM.Millermatic Passport PlusMillermatic 200Millermatic 350P with PythonXMT 304 /w S-64 feeder and 12RCDynasty 300 DXVictor O/APremier Power Welder for my trail junk.
Reply:My vote would be for the $109 Smith off the internet. That's the flowmeter I use on all my equipment (tig & mig).Extremely accurate, covers most gases, and replacement parts (if ever needed) are readily available.A good flowmeter will outlast your welder.By the way, $109 is a DEAL. That meter alone retails for over $200.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:I use victor and CIG argon regulator... for mix gas with CO2 or CO2 regulator... I dont mix it for other gases... I prefer one regulator for a typical gas usage...Actually any brand if it say its for ARGON is good in my book... choose the one that look tough, have a high PSI limit and can be view clearly at a distance...Unit in my fab shop dept:my good hand and team that trust me...A lone welder make art... a village full of welder make Miracles...
Reply:Thanks guys. I bought the Victor. Should do the trick. What do you guys usually run for Tig ranges? |
