Reply:Thats a big 10-4, in my field 4 out of 5 field mechanics are "welders" until the above happens and I am called out to cut all the mess out and fix it properly. I also hear the phrase " just a quick weld" all too often!!! They have NO clue! Excellent job!
Reply:Instead of "just a quick weld", around here I get "run a bead". Last time I heard that a dude poked his head in the door and hollared "Come see, I need you to run a bead!" VERY LOUD. I walked out, looked to what he was pointing to and shook my head and said no. Why he asked? I Can't- told him that if I could weld a steel ex pipe onto a aluminum muffler I would be somewhere else making big money..Peter
Reply:Or how bout when you get called out to weld something and when you get there it's all rust.  A kid wanted me to fix his truck frame one day so I went to take a look.  I could have put my hand through what was left of the frame.  Only thing holding it together was the box and most of it's floor was gone.  The kid was still running it down the highway like that.  I couldn't believe it.My name's not Jim....
