Hey all, just joined here and I need some info. On a lincoln weld pak 100hd. I was using it the other day and it ran fine, put it away for the night and had no power the next day, my multimeter, the diagram pasted on the welder, and a bit of time showed me voltage all the way to the fan but nothing out to the circuit board, now I cant find how to test the fan for proper operation or if I can ohm it, does anyone know what the next step should be or can anyone tell me who to ask next? Any help is greatly appriciated
Reply:so you have power but its not welding or it does not turn on at all? did the lug to the gun come loose or is the breaker on the machine tripped? i think there should be a small button to rest those smaller machines as they seem to get over heated allot from the complaints i hear from the guys that own them....did any other circumstances change? different point of power that you are now plugged into? too long of an extension cord or is the extension damaged? someone who owns one will more than likely chime in as to if the fan runs constantly or just under load, i do not own or use machines this small, so my suggestions are simply based on what i would do if any of my machines exhibited your symptoms stated.
Reply:Doesnt turn on at all, i tried the breaker button first and no results, so I pulled the cover and checked the switch & wiring, test showed a good switch, I fallowed the wiring diagram and checked for voltage at each point until I reached the fan. I have voltage going in but nothing coming out, from what ive gathered the circuit board is powered from the fan in series. I dont want to replace the fan not knowing if its the problem for sure but dont know how to test it without possibly damaging it, just trying to confirm my kill
Reply:I'm an auto technician by trade, I know how electrical components work for the most part but my knowledge is mainly 12v systems, I know 110/220v systems are simular in alot of ways but dont wanna risk testing it with direct power, im on budget
Reply:i aint much electrician but sounds like you might jumper past the fan to see if its the hole..
Reply:Thats what I thought too, I just dnt know wether or not that would cause.more damage to other components or not?
Reply:If anyone knows how to go about testing the fan, has had a simuliar problem, or even an idea of what you would do id like to hear it. Like I said im on a students budget with 2 sons a fiance, and a houshold to take care of so money is tight and cant afford more bills right now. Thanks in advance for anything u can tell me. |
