Today's project.  I owe an associate at work a favor who owes his wife's uncle a favor and so I agreed to build one of these for the uncle who wants one for the trailer he transports his Harley with.  This is what I had to go on.Started out with a bunch of materials salvaged from the scrap bin.  All cut to size and prep'd for assembly.Fast forward to the main assembly.A couple welds.  Running in globular transfer with MM200 set on #6 High, 38% wire feed, .035" ER70-6 and C-25 at 25cfh.Stand by for post #2. . .MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:. . . showing the beginings of the wheel 'rocker'.  Held at 45 degrees with a typical set up magnet. All I could find for rod was some 3/8" rebar left over from Judy's garden arbor.  Shown ready to receive the cycle's front tire.'Cammed over' in the hold position.  Got picked up tonight and I should know tomorrow if it worked out OK or if modification is required. Thanks for looking.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Nice job,and beautiful welds. Always nice to have some scraps laying around.
Reply:Those things work excellent! Some friends and I use those both to store bikes and to transport them on trailers.
Reply:Nice job, I removed a front wheel chock from a trailer a friend gave me. A little different design, it was rolled to fit radius of wheel. It didn't have the cam over though. Thats a nice improvement.Peter

Reply:Kinda interesting design. I can see that the rock over part could be subject to each persons likes or dislikes, huh?  Some young guy might want it where you hit it hard and slam it in and the lil short gramma wants it pretty smooth and easy.  Good work.
Reply:Duanne, they look super! It will just come down to tire size and exact fitment. The Uncle will have to try them out and see. Do you think you got penetration with that setting? City of L.A. Reply:You might want to be mindful also that the back part of the rocker can come back and bash into the lower fairing on some bikes (ask me how I know). A lot of that has to do with proper adjustment though, which is why they have all the holes.
Reply:I don't like the angle either.  I made a curved stop for my bike.  I figured an angle like you got might cause the tire to favor one side or the other.  A curve to match the tire fits like a glove every time.My name's not Jim....
Reply:Thanks for the comments guys!  As I stated in the first post - all I had to go on was the picture I posted.  I have never owned a bike (probably wouldn't be alive if I ever had) and didn't have the intended 'crotch rocket' available for fitting.  I did wonder why the vertical stop/support isn't adjustable in the sample design so hopefully it'll fit OK at the 16" overall height I set it at.  ??As for the penetration question Danny, I didn't think to do a 'break test' to see.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Looks good Duane, would have been nice to have the front wheel to design too. Reply:Thanks.Yeah it would really suck if it's too high and catches the nose of the front fender or the rocker hits any flaring as racinjason44 stated.  Easy enough to drop down but in retrospect a phone call or view of the bike probably would have been a wise thing.Anyway, I hope to hear today if it fits or not.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:A modern road motorcycle front tire is about 25" tall and 4" wide. I think your chock will most likely work.
Reply:The upright angle iron looks to be 1/4"?  Ought to hold just fine the way it's gusseted. The rubber tire will absorb a lot of impact.  A LOT  Ever see some of the momma's on the back of some bikes?  A tribute to modern tire design"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:The rollover feature will want to pull in towards the center at the place where it's bolted.  A simple 1" strongback on the inside from the bolt hole to the radius would prevent it."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:You didn't design it, you just built it"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:If the guy keeps the weight to a reasonable limit, I see no problem with the chock Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Wow!  I just built one similar for a friend last Saturday.  He provided the 'design' - a conglomeration of several designs he found on the internet and I built it to his 'specs'.  I was going to post it but 1) he painted it before I had a chance to take some WIP pics and 2) by the time the paint dried it was getting too dark for good pics.  Heck, I'll just post what I have:It's hard to see, but when you back the rear tire into the channel there is a curved piece (half circle) that receives the tire.  As you move the tire further to the rear, the curve piece pivots up so the front acts as a chock with the weight of the wheel holding it in place.  Made from scraps I had laying around.  After the paint dried, we mounted it to the inside of his trailer with lag screws and them put his motorcycle  in the chock.  The took it on a 200 mile to test it out.  He said it worked like a charm - no problems at all.
Reply:Well, the uncle said it works like a charm.  Didn't even have to change the rocker hole position.  Lucky guess.reefera4m - Nice build with yours.  Interesting how the same concept can take on so many different forms.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
