I just got a new c25 tank and my 1st stage reg reads 0, but if i turn my 2nd it will raise a little. is it my reg. or the guage? Thanks
Reply:Neither, it's just an empty tank. The high pressure gauge doesn't appear to move because it's range is much larger. 30psi just doesn't move the needle very much when the gauge has a range of 3000psi or so.Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!
Reply:It is a new tank. It should be full. I checked and the back of the guage is bent and when i move the needle it sticks at 1500 psi. so i don't know if that is the problem or if the reg. just broke. Thanks.
Reply:Can anyone help?
Reply:Gauges are relatively cheap so replace the HP gauge if it seems damaged and sticking. I'll assume that you don't have a second reg that you can throw on and check the tank with. The HP gauge doesn't even have to be there for the reg to function if you plugged the port with a HP plug. It's there so you have an idea how much gas you have left. You should be able to adjust your output presure to what you want and weld no problem even with a bad HP gauge. If the gauge is leaking you will waste gas, but thats about it. I have on rare occasion gotten new "full" tanks that were empty from the LWS. Generally it means that the tank has a bad valve. The valve wouldn't close completely and slowly leaked gas with out anyone noticing it.
