Hey all,I need some desperate help with my welder and welding. My welder is a Telwin BIMAX 152 Turbo (crappa', I know)Now my problem is in setting up the welder, once set up I can lay a good looking weld that has good pernatration. The settings on my welder are as following:-1 to 10 Wire feed speedA 2 way toggle switch with either 1 or 2 as settingsA 2 way toggle switch with either Min or Max as settings. What the hang is the 1 or 2 setting for? I'm guessing the Min or Max is for amps/power?My problem is with my welding is that I can never get it set up right. What normally happens is the weld will just build up on the metal so I wind back the wire speed and that just makes little build ups. So I try hitting Max settings and that makes a low hissing sound and doesnt make a nice looking weld at all. When I'm welding I can see the wire hitting the metal then rolling back up towards the gun and turning into a ball....does this with different settings. Any ideas...Im using 0.8 wire with C02/Argon mix at 15PSI into the welder.Cheers.
Reply:If it can run fluxcore as well as gas..You may need to change the polarity...Sometimes there is a polarity switch..Sometimes you have to reverse the leads.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:The two switches are how you set the voltage. The lowest voltage will be MIN/1, then MIN/2, then MAX/1, and MAX/2 will be your highest voltage setting. The exact voltages each switch combination makes are probably listed in the manual and/or somewhere on the welder itself.Voltage is not the same as amperage or power. Power is a function of voltage and amperage. In GMA (MIG/MAG) welding there is no knob or switch on the power source (welding machine) that directly sets amperage. Te actual amperage that the machine puts out depends on the voltage setting as well as the wire speed setting. Also, like Zap said, check the polarity that your machine is set on. Polarity is not controlled by an actual switch on that type of machine so don't bother looking for one.Visit Tensaiteki.com
Reply:Thanks guys.On the bottom on my Welder it says that the earth cable shoud be positvie and gun negative for fluxcore and the other way around for gas. I'll have to check that tonight. So if I was welding 2mm or 3mm thick exhaust tubing what should my settings be at? Also what does it mean when the wire is balling up instead of moulting into the metal?Last edited by Jarmizz; 07-06-2008 at 05:04 PM.
Reply:because your welder only has 4 settings, if you try all of them (provided you know how to weld) and still cant get a good looking weld, then it is probally the polarity of your welder.
Reply:Ok, the polarity of the welder is correct for the gas set up I am running.I welded some 3mm think angle iron and it went perfect...nice welds with good penitration. No problems there. Then I tried to weld some 1mm panel steel, turned the settings down to what I thought would suit the steel and it just blew holes...so I turned down the voltage settings and then the weld just sat on top of the metal making a lumpy looking weld with next to no penitration. It must be the cheapness of the welder...the settings seem to far apart...its must be a digital welder..either a 0 or 1  Its rather confusing! What speed should I be moving my gun along at..maybe Im moving to slow?
