Reply:This is the container yard i ran before going out on my own. (Baltimore, MD) Attached Images
Reply:One of my current set-ups.(welder was sold 2 weeks ago). Bought a new/used diesel sa-200 in its place. I like my miller bobcat in the back more but it just isnt big enough sometimes. Attached Images
Reply:Why do you not like the dodge? It seems like you are over working it a little and would be better suited to a 2500 cummins.
Reply:The dodge is good, just not heavy duty enough. I would love a 3500 cummins, but there a lot more costly. Maybe one day I'll have that diesel.
Reply:Thanks for the pictures Jreynoldswelding! The hydraulic hoses look like how a rancher hangs rattlesnakes on the fence. One of these days you'll have to tell us about your ocean container construction experience; the topic crops up here every so often.Good Luck

Reply:Nice! Now that looks like a practical and simple reutilization of containers. Seems more logical than trying to make posh dwellings out of them. It'd be interesting to pull up one of the news articles from about ten years ago, describing how the container yards were being so overrun with worthless throw-away metal containers, that there was talk about penalizing shippers for abandoning them. I know there were a lot of boxes on the west coast, but I think New Orleans had the coast beat; with dizzying quantities of boxes stacked. You could ride for hours and not see ‘em all.Recently I saw some "simulated" shipping containers, that looked like they were built to knock-down for dense shipping, and then be bolted together for storage use. I'm almost sure they weren't stackable. Yes, I took some pictures. Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 12-04-2009 at 10:50 PM.
Reply:Around the Dallas area they sell the 40' containers for $2500-$3000 plus delivery.I have considered trying to talk them down someday when I have some cash. Any idea how the average guy (OK, OK, Below average) can get one cheaper? What should we point out that will lower the price?

Reply:Here's the pseudo-container:Attachment 42306Attachment 42307Very light construction, all bolted.Bob Warner - Too much money isn't it? At around three grand, they're more expensive than conventional construction.Sure they're instant and  portable, but if those aren't priorities, a plain old shed is probably the way to go. And if your neighbors can stand a container, they would probably love a semi-trailer  and trailers are a lot cheaper.Good LuckLast edited by denrep; 10-19-2010 at 11:43 PM.

Reply:Depends how much the bolt cutters are? LOL. They are cheap around the coat lines, which they should be. I know they run for a lot more out west because of the haul fees etc.
