what if you put a rheostat with different ohms and watts ?
Reply:There's no way to answer your question without more information.For example, if the rheostat is one of the old style wire-wound air cooled monsters, you'd be well advised to replace it like for like if you want the welder to operate the same as before. If however it is a small potentiometer acting as an input to a digital circuit there may be some latitude for substitution.
Reply:that pretty well does answer my question. The machine in question is a old bluestar 2e so I thought. Part number on rheostat I pulled out comes up as it should go in the aead or whatever it is. Got the serial num. off faceplate and it doesnt match any i have found, is there one elsewhere to see if it actually is a bluestar?
