What's up guys ? I am having trouble deciding in which welding direction I want to go in. I been all about pipe welding recently, but don't know what the future holds for them. I am juggling pipe welding and structure welding, so with that being said what do you experienced welder think about the future for newbies? Where is the work gonna be ? I am open to all welding professions just let me know your input .Thank you
Reply:In my opinion it never hurts to get a little experience everywhere then pursue whatever avenue you like the most, or feal more comfortable with. Opinions are like ---holes though, everybody has one. Good luck with whatever you choose. Welding anything for a career will always be in need, challenging, and rewarding. <<<another opinionShake and Bake
Reply:Like JWC said, a little experience "everywhere" will help you decide your future.  From what I've learned, the majority of weldors have worked in more than one specialty; but as a buddy of mine witnessed, it was kinda cute when a handful of pipeliners got hired on at Tinker as tig weldors and didn't know how to "make 'em go" My dad was a professional weldor, starting in the missile silos across Wyoming and Nebraska, moving on to trailer repair, on to structural and also food related fab and handrail.Diversify yourself, get good at what you do, network with other pro's, and you'll always have a job.
