Hi Everyone,I have been welding mostly sick for over forty years on cinstruction and steel fabrication but I have had very little experience with MIG and TIG. I recently bnought two new welders, a Lincoln MIG 255 with the extra spool gun and a Lincoln TIG 225. Although I can use both of these machines, I feel that I am seriously lacking in set up knowlecge and technique. I feel that I am especially weak in knowledge regarding chioce of gasses, choice of types and sizes of tungsten electrodes, and general machine settings. I also bought a Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 39 plasma cutter. I feel that I could use a little more guidance there to do the best work.I have been looking through the selection of books from Amazon and even with all the reviews I am not sure what book is right. If any of you out there have been through this and have found a good book or books to really help in these areas, I would appreciate your recommendations. Thank you.Dave B.E-MAIL: [email protected] PAGES: www.wfmservice.comwww.rides4rides.comwww.pvpmedia.com/53f100.htmDad always said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."I say, We can make it better.

Reply:I was blind, it was in your sig. I know you can get it on the web but it prints alot of duplicate pages, so I condensed it all into one document for easier printing. -DanOwnerDW Metalworks LLCMiller Trailblazer 302Miller 8RC FeederMiller Passport PlusMiller Dynasty 200 DX W/Coolmate 1Hobart Handler 135Hypertherm PowerMAX 30Smith O/A Torch SetPlus much much more

Reply:Welding Processes and Power Sources by Edward R Pierre, hands down best for understanding how power sources work.
Reply:AWS Welding Handbook, Volume 4, "Metals and their Weldability". Covers materials, processes, filler metals, etc., etc., etc.Regards, KbnitI r 2 a perfessional
Reply:Lincolns Procedure handbook of arc welding is good. Modern Welding Technology, Design of weldements is also good. --Gol' |
