I built this cart with some angle iron, its welded with 3/32 6013 DCEP @ 120 amps.I also upgrade to a bigger Oxygen tank! Attached Images
Reply:Nice build, looks stout. I would certainly attach a chain to the upright to hold the oxy tank. The snubber is pretty poor insurance against the oxy tank falling over and breaking the valve off. Trust me, you don't want a rocket runnin' loose in the shop.                    JMHO,                              MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:Yeah, I couldn't find a chain or belt at the time. I figured a bungee cord is better than nothing at the moment. I'll be getting belts for both tanks.
Reply:A nylon web belt is better than rubber, chain is better still. The cart looks good, how does it handle?City of L.A. Reply:Pretty well actually. I think I may need some better wheels.
Reply:Some taller wheels would probably help, try scrounging some rear wheels off a high wheel lawn mower and mount them closer to the back of the cart frame.Just a suggestion, cut the spacer out from under the front and then mount the tall wheels so they are not quite touching the floor when the cart is upright. With the tall wheels when you tip it back to roll it the bottom of the cart will have plenty of ground clearance. I found two 16" solid rubber bicycle style wheels for mine and they roll easy over any type of ground.       As I said, just a suggestion,                                                MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:I don't think that would work for this. I put the wheels back further because the cart seemed a little bit too easy to tip. Then again the cart is staying in the shop, no bumpy ground there.
Reply:Is that a wooden platform in the bottom?   If it were me, I'd replace it with metal to thwart the Murphy's-Law-fire that could occur.Lincoln AC225 & MigPak 140, Lincoln Magnum SpoolGun, Miller Spectrum 375-X Plasma, Syncrowave 200 TIG, Millermatic 252 MIG, Miller Digital Elite, General 7x12" horiz/vert bandsaw, 3' box/pan brake, 20 ton press, milling machine, 12x28 lathe, etc.
Reply:Yes it is wood. I do all my cutting and welding outside. I just run the cables and hoses through the door. The garage is far too messy (Thanks mom!) My "half" is clean by the way.
