Really need help with how accomplish this test. It's close butt w/no backup plate.
Reply:Also could use help with temp & wire speed
Reply:Are you prepping for a test, or are you having problems passing a test? If you are having problems passing the test, what problems are you having? When asking for help, the more info you can give about the situation the better so we don't have to guess. Experience level,  machine, wire used, etc. Especially if you are new here with no posts we know absolutely zero about you and your situation. It's understandable if you are prepping for a test that you might not know all the info, especially if it's for a new job. Many times it's possible to get the basic info by asking about the test however from those who are going to be giving it. If you are having problems passing a test, if possible picts are a great help as they show us exactly what issues you might be having. The biggest issue I see with newer welders and vertical is that they have never learned to read the puddle. They get by on flat/horizontal doing timing patterns. It's especially true with stick/FC where they also have to be able to differentiate between slag and the molten metal..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
