Can someone post some pics of welds with carbon dioxide and c25.The reason i ask my grandfather gave me a 40 cf tank of carbon dioxide and im sure i have read you can use carbon dioxide or the c25 mix and i was just wanting to see how big of a difference their is.
Reply:You can. C25 gives you a stronger, nicer looking weld though. I don't like using carbon dioxide.Bruce DeLaetHeavy Equipment Mechanic and Welder1948 SA-200 short hood1949 LincWelder 1801963 SA-200 red faceMiller S-32-P

Reply:Well the tank was free and full of co2 so i might as well use it. Im not using a 110 volt i have a 220 volt HF welder. Im using flux core right now i would think that co2 mig would be better thin flux even on a bad day.
Reply:I do heavy equipment, and structural work with my feeder, I run .045 and CO2 for most work, or Triple7 and CO2 for heavier stuff. I like having 20 pounders on the truck instead of another 330cf cylinder.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:The CO2 tanks are not designated in CF since it is sold by the LBIf you have a tank about the Size of a 40CF it is probably a 20lb Co2 tank which equals about 174 CF of Gas.1lb of C02 = 8.74 CF of GasDepending on what your supplier charges for C25 and CO2, CO2 is usually a better bargain. You will need to get a regulator, which you may have already but the fitting is different for C25 and CO2 tanks, and then you'll need an adapter. Most LWS have the adapter in stock.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:Im all set i have the regulator and im all set now i just have to get some mig wire and try it out.I would also like to find what psi i should run its in a garage no wind i use flux outside i read online it should be about 5 psi.
Reply:What type of regulator? Most have CFH Cubic Feet per Hour 15-20 is goodEd Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:The regs that come with most mig machines are set up to work with C25 not 100% CO2. To attach the reg to your CO2 cylinder you will need to get an adapter to convert to the CGA fitting used on CO2 cylinders.I also hate to burst your bubble, but if you have the HF 220v mig I think you do, it's really just a 120 amp class mig, same as most 110v units. For all practical discussion purposes, you have a "110v" mig based on it's limited output..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:I have the 140 amp hf mig and as i said i already have the tank hooked up i had a co2 reg |
