im just wondering how the weld is supposed to look on the back side of a TIG weld. i been practicing on .134 mild steel tubing. and 11 gauge flat butt joints. little to know spacing in between the 2 peices being put together.could i see a few pics of the under side of a proper TIG weld.Lincoln Square Wave 175 TIGLincoln 110v flux core welder (my 1st)Clarke 180EN MIG
Reply:Here's a couple. They were on 6" sch 40 pipe, I believe.
Reply:im not pro, but im guessing what im doing would be a little different.you did this most likely open root with a bevel, and 6010 root pass? wouldnt my thin metal with no gap be different?Lincoln Square Wave 175 TIGLincoln 110v flux core welder (my 1st)Clarke 180EN MIG
Reply:im thinking we're looking inside the pipe, which means we're looking at the root pass-nd that looks like tig not 6010...the orange flecks i believe are impurities and silicon..
Reply:Yip, that's TIG...and even though you may not have a gap, if you penetrate it fully, it should look similar to the pics I posted.
