Reply:A/O reaches the highest temperature, about 6,000 degrees F.
Reply:Depending on desired results. You will need a large tip or rosebud and some way to insulate the tubings. Otherwise one area will cool as another area is heated.
Reply:The highest flame temperature of the common fuel gasses is from oxy-acetylene, as stated, at 5720 F (neutral flame). But the highest BTU/ft3 is from oxy-propane at 2563 Btu/ft3, compared to oxy-acetylene at 1470 Btu/ft3. The max flame temperature of oxy-propane is 4579 F (neutral flame). For heating larger/longer objects, it might work out better to use a furnace or forge instead of a torch. The best laid schemes ... Reply:How thin?I know you said Pipe but is it Tubing?Exactly what gauge.Project? Budget?Need/want to weld or just Heat?O/A- weld, cut, heat $$Oxy/propane- heat & cut $A simple Mapp torch can do quite a lot if you just have a couple twists in mind- more projects means more $$ for the little bottles.Pretty handy to have around anyway- good Fire StarterI have an O/A set but sometimes I just set the Mapp Torch on the Table and hold the piece under it's flame for getting pieces Red Hot.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge |
