I recently went up to a B20 (bulge #20) crucible. Before I could start I needed a set of tongs for lifting the crucible from the furnace. I started by rendering the crucible so I could play with the hinge dimensions. This proved quick and easy. The lift arms are made from old 1/2" water pipe. The bottom pads are a simple shape slightly bent to hold the crucible. The rest is square tube. It's painted with manifold paint, which has held up surprisingly well.I also made a pouring shank. I didn't bother painting it. Enjoy. Attached Images
Reply:Tongs and shank both look pretty good. Are you pouring aluminum with that crucible?"SOUTHPAW" A wise person learns from another persons mistakes;A smart person learns from their own mistakes; But, a stupid person.............never learns.
