So yesterday I was cruising the weldingweb marketplace and read a post about some gas cylinders on Atlanta Craigslist. While reading the post a man from Atlanta posted and said he had several bottles free to anyone who would haul them off.We emailed back and forth and today I drove 120 miles one way to get the bottles.I ended up with four full size oxygen, two acetylene bottles, and one bottle that I'm not sure what it is.The oxygen bottles are all out of date but three are of places that no longer exist and one has a blank neck ring.I've had good luck with bottles from places that are no longer in busines when it comes to swapping so I hope that goes well. The blank neck ring is a rare find indeed. One of the acetylene bottles is I'll say a full size bottle because I'm not quite sure how they size them and the second is a bottle about half the size of the big one. Both are full of acetylene!!! The last bottle is a bit of a puzzle as I've never seen a bottle with a valve quite like it.It has two valves on the same cylinder, one says liqiud and the other says vapor. The odd bottle has the name National Refrigerants Inc. on it. I'm gonna post a couple of pictures and maybe someone here will have a idea of what it may be.It amazes me that these bottles were still there when I called about them. Thanks for any help. This was all FREE!!!! Reply:The refrigeration bottle looks like it could be for anhydrous ammonia.
Reply:Anhydrous ammonia uses that sort of valve according to Google. Dangerous stuff. I'd visit (not call) industrial HVAC outfits to see if they would swap anything for it.http://www.tannerind.com/anhydrous-msds.htmlGreat score by the way!
Reply:Its a refrigerant cylinder. It's classified as a 125, it will hold 125 pounds of refrigerantThere is a depoit on the cylinder, any refrigerant resell shop will refund the deposit. Last I heard its about $100Possibly r-500AaronLast edited by AMC724; 03-27-2012 at 09:32 PM.
Reply:Anhydrous Amonia, if inhaled , will combine with the moisture in your lungs and form a by product, HCL or Hydrochloric acid, it will then burn holes in your lungs like swiss cheese. It is often used as a refrigerant. So if that is Anhydrous, or if you don't know, get rid of it! Gasses and chemicals that are foreign to you or unknown are nothing to mess with.Last edited by kolot; 03-27-2012 at 10:21 PM."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400

Reply:Nice score!! Acetylene bottles should be transported and stored upright. btw.
Reply:Upright with the lid on. Good score. Time to make some backyard bells?Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.

Reply:Nice score! Other than safety in case of an accident, acetylene cylinders can be laid down. Before use, they must be upright for a period of time to let the acetone settle."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!!
